Heavenly Brew: Homegrown Coffee in Cebu at the Tuburan Café

Share this:

Tuburan Café is the first to offer homegrown coffee in Cebu.

Nothing starts the morning better than a good cup of coffee. Some people just cannot get through the day without some caffeine in their system. This has turned the modern day coffee shop into a cultural phenomenon, welcoming professionals and students alike. Cebuanos go to coffee shops to work, study, or pass the time, and simply because coffee shops are some of the most instagrammable places in Cebu. Though there are many places in the city to get your caffeine fix, a Cebuano municipality is using its locally grown coffee beans to introduce Cebuanos to the first homegrown coffee in Cebu.

The northern Cebu town of Tuburan is the island’s very own coffee capital. All of their drinks are made from the robusta beans farmed at the Tuburan Coffee Farm. This coffee plantation covers 2,000 hectares of coffee seeds, stretching to 16 different villages around town.

Try the best homegrown coffee in Cebu!

Tuburan coffee beans are the town’s most popular exported product. Even the best coffee shop in Cebu orders beans in bulk to give their drinks the best flavor, and at the same time they are able to support local farmers. This also helps the tourism sector by introducing something that you won’t get in any other country.

Tuburan Café differentiates itself from the big players in the coffee industry by being purely Cebuano. They have a treasure trove of Espresso, Lattes, and Frappes, all concocted with the best coffee beans found at the Coffee Farm. Though a new player in the coffee industry, this café could potentially turn the first homegrown coffee in Cebu into one of the most well-loved Cebuano delicacies.

To go to Tuburan Café, you can ride a bus at the North or South Bus Terminal. Make sure you ask if it will pass by Tuburan. You will have to sit through three to four hours of land travel along many winding roads and lively forests. You will be dropped off at the bus terminal, where many tricycle drivers will be waiting. You can ride one that will take you directly to Tuburan Café.

When you get there, you will see the facade of the café, which from the outside doesn’t look that spectacular, until you get inside and feel like you are in the newest hipster spot in town that your friends won’t shut up about. They have colorful seats, a map of the town, and a cool ambience reminiscent of a bigger store.

Tuburan Café will soon become a famous tourist spot in northern Cebu.

The province is known for its clean air, far away from all the bustling and grinding of the roads and super highways, so you can take your drink outside on the second floor, where you can feel the cool breeze while you drink away all the stress.

The Tuburan Froze is the main specialty of Tuburan Café, along with many of their homegrown coffee in Cebu.

The café offers both hot and cold options. The classics are there, but their specialty is the Tuburan Froze, which is a cold non-caffeinated drink that is made in different flavors for everyone to enjoy, and it will surely give you a memorable brain freeze.

Travel to various Cebu tourist spots with a bottle of delicious cold brew!

Each drink is served on a customized coaster, giving it a clean and fancy presentation. If you want to take one for the road, they also offer to-go options, which are packaged in a wonderful bottle that you can take home with you.

For the sweet tooth in you, there are snacks like cookies and cakes that they sell. However, it is still quite sparse compared to other coffee shops. Here’s to hoping that there will be more options soon.

You won’t have to fall in line to wait for your order to arrive, as they will give you a device that vibrates once your drink is ready to be served. This assures you that you can start working or relaxing before your drink is ready.

If you prefer to make homemade coffee, they also sell bags of coffee beans which you can brew at home. You can buy this as a gift for yourself or for that “caf-fiend” in your life for 150 pesos.

Coffee Dream in Parkmall makes coffee made from beans at the Tuburan Coffee Farm.

One can say that the place is quite far away, and maybe you don’t have the time or the money to travel to this café. Luckily, the Coffee Dream Café in Parkmall sells coffee made out of the coffee beans from Tuburan. This could be a great starting point for you to decide whether you should go all the way to Tuburan or not. You can even buy the same ground beans at their stall before you enter the grocery store.

Then again, you can always consider a stop towards the café, especially if you want to go to the other Cebu tourist spots in Tuburan. They don’t only offer the first homegrown coffee in Cebu, but they also offer one of the best springs on the entire island, the Molobolo Spring. Maybe you can buy some cold brews and have a drink on the way to one of the most relaxing tourist spots in Cebu.

Tuburan Coffee Farm is said to become one of the many tourist spots in town that you should watch out for, as it could be a great place for education, production, and cultivation. It is located in the mountains of Cabancalan, a few kilometers from the café.

If you’ve already tried the best food in Cebu, why not look forward to trying the best homegrown coffee in Cebu? Tuburan Café indeed offers some of the best beverages on the island. Though not everyone needs to drink coffee every day, there are a handful of people that would love to have coffee first thing in the morning, or while they are working. The café is basically in the heart of Tuburan. It is still the first branch in Cebu, but let’s hope that they will add more branches in more places like malls and business parks to bring more awareness about the first homegrown coffee in Cebu.
