Take a break at Sky Park Found in SM Seaside Cebu

Share this:

Welcome to Sky Park, a relaxing outdoor recreational area where you can sit back and relax from a day’s worth of shopping!

SM Seaside Cebu is one of the biggest malls in Asia. Various international brands, boutiques, and restaurants can be found inside, giving you tons of options for your food and shopping adventures.

But even shopping can be a drag, and sometimes you just want to sit back and relax before heading home.

Enter Sky Park, SM Seaside’s recreational area where you can take a stroll and enjoy the fresh breeze and magnificent seaside view. The place is big enough for kids to run around, and you can sit on the grass, chat with friends, or take some pictures of the beautiful scenery.

Since the park is situated outdoors, it’s perfect for taking a stroll and al fresco dining.

SM Malls developed the park in partnership with Filipino industrial designer Kenneth Cobonpue. He is known for using natural materials found on Philippine islands, such as abaca, rattan, and bamboo, to create intricate pieces sought after by several high-profile personalities.

His clients include Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, as well as American rock band Maroon 5, who used one of his creations in their music video for “Never Gonna Leave This Bed.”

This is one of Cobonpue’s first forays into designing public parks in Cebu City, bringing his brand of creativity and innovation to one of the biggest malls in the world.

Not many malls in Cebu have places to unwind, and since shopping is a busy endeavor, this is a great place to do just that. The long walkways are perfect for taking a stroll, and you can get some much needed privacy.

Not many parks in Cebu have an overlooking view of the sea, and one that’s also on top of a shopping mall!

The park is located on the 3rd Floor, and its outdoor setting offers a clear view of the winding roads and neighboring tourist spots, such as the San Pedro Calungsod Chapel and Cebu Ocean Park.

ACTIVITIES AT THE SKY PARK

Children can have some fun time on the slides and swings in the playground, also known as Sky Play. Cobonpue’s handiwork and creativity highlight a child’s colorful imagination, with slide sets designed like flying saucers and other pieces shaped like dinosaurs.

Kids can enjoy the colorful playground in SM Seaside Cebu.

Adults can have some fun too, with the introduction of the park’s mini obstacle course. It’s relatively small, but you can show off your parkour skills and unleash your inner ninja warrior.

Sky Park also offers an obstacle course for adults.

There are a couple of restaurants and cafes nearby, with al fresco dining options for you to further enjoy the park’s amenities. You can also bring some snacks with you if you want to have a small picnic.

SM Seaside Cebu is a pet friendly mall, so you can bring your fur babies along when you visit the park. Nowadays, pet owners can be seen walking around together with their adorable dogs, while some bring their cats in backpacks and strollers.

HOW TO GET THERE

SM Seaside Cebu is located in South Road Properties, a super highway targeted to become one of the biggest business centers in the city, with hotels and malls expected to open soon.

The easiest route to get there would be via MyBus. You can check the schedule and stops on their Facebook page.

You can also ride any jeepney that will pass by Mambaling, get dropped off at the intersection under the flyover bridge, and take a motorcycle taxi to SM Seaside.

If you want to relax after a long day of shopping, SM Seaside has one of the only parks in Cebu with a child and pet friendly environment. The Sky Park is spacious, free, and it offers a memorable experience for any age and lifestyle. There is so much to do and love that you will probably plan for your next visit soon.
