Here’s Why Cebu Road Trips Are Always Fun and Memorable

Most Cebuanos love going on road trips all around Cebu.

Cebu is a haven for road trips. Traveling to the many tourist spots in the countryside – whether north or south – includes getting to witness other breathtaking attractions that make the journey all the more worthwhile.

Though road trips take time, they are a great way to learn about the culture, people, and even the island’s geography. Considering that Cebu is not that big of an island, you might as well explore and visit the places you’ve never been to, right?

SOME OF THE TOP DESTINATIONS FOR ROAD TRIPS

Lots of families and barkadas drive all the way up to the mountains for some peace and quiet.

  • Beautiful Mountain Ranges

Several locations in the countryside are accessible through roads along the mountains. Many road trip enthusiasts love chatting with their friends (maybe with some food) and basking in the breathtaking view of the province or city.

These locations are perfect for travelers who love immersing themselves in nature or those who simply want to unwind and have some peace and quiet.

Mountains are not just for trekking or camping anymore, as those who want worthwhile and meaningful conversations with their loved ones can also appreciate the journey driving to these places.

They also serve as great venues for pictures, selfies, and even drone shots for those who like to document their travels.

If this is the type of road trip you want to experience, you should drop by Cebu Transcentral Highway in Lahug or Manipis Road in Minglanilla for the mesmerizing views and attractions that many tourists and locals have come to love.

The Man-Made Forest in Minglanilla has recently become one of the best places for road trips in Cebu.

  • Breathtaking Forests

The countryside is abundant in nature – mostly forests with large trees and wide canopies, offering shade for motorists and travelers taking a break from their journey. These are unlikely Cebu tourist spots because of the aesthetic and atmosphere.

Motorists love driving to places like the Man-Made Forest in Minglanilla, as the cool air and wide roads make for a relaxing experience from the busy, congested highways in the city.

These places have also attracted many cyclists who want to witness a one-of-a-kind ambiance with nature.

You can park on the side of the road and take pictures of the trees and the long pathway. The fresh breeze also goes perfectly with the mood for those who want to cool down and unwind.

Trying out Filipino delicacies from around Cebu makes for a great road trip experience.

  • Food, Glorious Food

Cebu is also known for having some of the most diverse food cultures in the Philippines. Every city and town has different kinds of Filipino delicacies you won’t be able to try anywhere else.

While there are several restaurants and carenderias along the road, you can also visit stalls and kiosks offering street food you can bring along as you go home. You can easily purchase any food items or products without having to get out of your car. Simply roll down your windows and make your order.

The City of Carcar has many stalls offering different snacks to bring home.

One of the best places to learn about Cebu’s food culture is the city of Carcar, which is famous for the Chicharon Aisle. Aside from selling these iconic crunchy pork rinds, they also offer several Filipino snacks like Piaya and Ampao that you can munch on when on the road.

The city has also become world-famous for its suckling pig known as Lechon. Its extremely crunchy skin and chewy interior have given it a reputation as one of the best dishes to try in Cebu.

Drive down to some of the most immersive beaches in Cebu!

  • Budget-Friendly Beaches

You can easily experience Cebu island life at any of the beaches and resorts in the north or south. However, these can get quite expensive for some.

Luckily, there are a lot of beaches in Cebu that will not cost you much. It’s just that most of them are usually outside of the city, hence the long road trips people make to get to these places.

You can opt to stay overnight and take a swim at the beach for the day. Some beaches have an entrance fee of only one peso, and you have all the freedom to bring your own food and drinks for you and your friends.

Unplanned trips are usually the most fun and memorable.

Places like Aloguinsan have several resorts with budget-friendly entrance fees, and they offer a magnificent ambiance due to the fine white sand and clear blue waters.

So even if you have no reason to get out of your car, you will be amazed by the breathtaking scenery in these parts of Cebu. You have to see it with your own eyes to appreciate its beauty.

Others would prefer to stay home and relax, but the island has many places for both locals and tourists to visit. While the city has its fair share of malls, landmarks, and popular eateries, the countryside has many iconic venues best experienced through a long drive.

Consider inviting your friends and family to any of these locations, maybe even go on multiple road trips, and fully immerse yourselves in everything Cebu has to offer.
