Many Filipinos struggle with healthy eating. The World Health Organization reports that 4 in 10 adults in the Philippines are overweight or obese, a trend largely fueled by easy access to unhealthy food over nutritious options. (2025)
For many working Filipinos, including those in Cebu, the problem often boils down to a lack of time.
A study by Agdeppa and colleagues highlighted how this time crunch contributes to poor dietary choices, especially for those with demanding careers. (2020)
Take Chime Osabel, for example. Like many corporate professionals, Chime found himself relying on fast food. But his eating habits took a turn after a casual chat with Chef Bibo Montana about meal planning.
That conversation sparked an idea, which soon blossomed into Diet in a Box, now one of Cebu’s favorite healthy food providers.
ABOUT DIET IN A BOX
Even before it became SunStar’s Best of Cebu for Best Wellness Food Delivery for four years straight, Diet in a Box started small, just like other successful ventures.
In an interview with Keeta, Chime talked about his and Chef Bibo’s struggle in founding the business back in March 2015.
Did you know that they launched their business with just Php 6,000 in capital?
In those early days, they catered to a modest 10 clients a week, quickly growing to 25. (2022)
Fast forward to 2022, and their client base has soared to a minimum of 350, with numbers steadily increasing since.
Their clientele is quite diverse, ranging from doctors and athletes to seniors and individuals with specific medical conditions. This is precisely why Diet in a Box is committed to providing tailored meal services.
THEIR MISSION
Diet in a Box was founded with a clear purpose: to inspire Cebuanos to embrace healthier eating by rethinking what “healthy” food means.
Their approach is simple yet effective: nutrition should always be personalized. A truly balanced diet meets your unique needs and fitness goals. That’s why they teamed up with a nutritionist-dietitian to offer expert consultations and customized meal plans. This ensures your diet is perfectly tailored just for you.
As such, Diet in a Box brings its mission to life through every personalized meal they deliver.
So, how exactly do they make healthy eating achievable for everyone, especially for busy Cebuanos with little time to spare for meal prep?
It all comes down to their thoughtfully designed meal plans.
MEAL PLANS

Diet in a Box currently offers 5 diet meal plan subscriptions. Meals are delivered weekly, from Monday to Friday only.
Your options include:
CALORIE COUNTED
This option is perfect for those who want to lose weight.
A calorie-counting diet helps you manage your weight and ensures you stay within a target number of calories per day, as recommended by your dietitian. Otherwise, you’ll end up taking in more calories than you burn, which causes weight gain.
KETO-GO
If you prefer a diet option that helps regulate your blood sugar levels, this low-carb, high-good-fat option is designed for you.
Ketogenic (keto) diets are recommended by nutrition experts for those who need increased ketones, which are important in managing blood sugar levels.
In his SunStar article, Luis Quibranza III praised this meal plan option, saying it’s a five-star experience. There’s a reason why it’s hailed as one of the company’s signature diet meal plans. (2024)
PESCATARIAN
Derived from the word “pesce” (meaning ‘fish’) and vegetarian, this diet mainly consists of fish paired with plant-based foods. A pescatarian diet prioritizes fish and other seafood variants as the primary protein source.
This meal plan is typically low in carbs and has enough sources of protein and good fats.
LEAN MACHINE
Are you an active person? Do you perform heavy training exercises like CrossFit and calisthenics?
This high-protein, low-carb diet is recommended by dietitians. The Lean Machine diet plan swaps much of your daily carb intake for protein.
VEGAN
This classic diet option is a go-to for those who don’t want to consume products made from animals. A vegan diet is typically low in fat and has enough sources of carbs and protein from plant-based options.
If you’re embracing a vegetarian lifestyle, you might love this diet meal plan.
OTHER OPTIONS
Aside from weekly meal plan subscriptions, they also offer single-meal options, with prices ranging from Php 300 to Php 400.
If you wish to order more than one single-meal option for a day, you may contact them. They welcome any order specifications.
You can also purchase components, such as snacks, juices, wraps, and salads, as “stand-alone” orders.
DELIVERY WEEK
(Photo by Cup of Couple on Pexels)
When you subscribe to a meal plan, the delivery week schedule has a minimum of 5 days. The delivery week starts from Monday to Friday, which is fixed.
So, if you made an order days before, you must wait until Monday the following week.
For example, if you place an order on a Wednesday, you will need to wait until Monday the following week to start your weekly meal plan.
Should you have further questions in mind, you may check out their website’s Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page.
HOW TO ORDER
Diet in a Box is now available on the Grab Food delivery app. However, their Banilad branch in the app is closed as of writing.
You can go directly to their website for order placement and further information.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Diet in a Box is a small business based in Cebu City. They currently deliver meals within the mainland.
If you’re far from the city, it’s best to place your order days before your weekly diet plan to give ample time for their delivery riders to navigate your location.
On a side note, consult your nutritionist before making any dietary modifications.
