Statoes is a haven for sneakerheads looking to get new shoes.

At Statoes, you are one step closer to improving your street style. This new neighborhood rendezvous offers new shoes and streetwear products for you to up your OOTD game and create a lasting impression.

Conveniently located in Lahug, it’s an accessible space for sneaker enthusiasts, resellers, and fashionistas, where they can share their mutual love for some of the most popular footwear around the world.

The sneaker shop is located in Lahug, Cebu City.

Statoes aims to promote the sneakerhead community in Cebu. Some shoe stores offer brand new or secondhand pairs, while others allow you to profit from reselling your limited edition sneakers that come in rare colorways.

Today, many sneakerheads can’t wait to purchase the freshest new shoes in the market.

But like many successful businesses, Statoes had its humble beginnings.

STARTING STATOES

Statoes started as a side hustle, where the owner would sell hype shoes online.

Statoes started as a side hustle owned by Lance Banate, a licensed mechanical engineer and longtime sneakerhead from Negros.

Lance owned many pairs of shoes, from famous shoe lines like the Jordan 1s and Nike Dunks.

This love blossomed into a passion, creating Statoes as an online business during the COVID-19 pandemic. The store’s name is a play on the word “status,” as sneakers have somewhat become a symbol for a higher class.

Early on, Lance struggled as he personally commuted to deliver the sneakers himself. He was dedicated to creating an online presence, hoping to reach as many sneakerheads as possible.

As his business grew, Lance soon opened a pop-up store where sneakerheads could find the freshest new shoes to add to their collection.

On March 18, 2023, Statoes opened their first brick-and-mortar store at Eden’s Place, near Harold’s Evotel

Now, Statoes offers more than just famous shoe models from the world’s biggest footwear companies, as it also promotes streetwear brands like Champion and Supreme, which have become icons of casual fashion.

As for their long-term goals, Statoes aims to expand and open more branches and hopefully move into bigger spaces.

WHAT’S NEW WITH NEW SHOES

Statoes offers everything from basketball shoes to casual shoes.

The massive collection of new shoes are displayed on the walls, which you will see as soon as you enter the shop. There are a bunch of colors and styles to choose from to help you find your style and aesthetic.

One of their most popular shoes are the Nike Dunks, which have the iconic Jordan 1-esque silhouette. It’s simple, versatile, and comfortable enough for everyday casual shoes.

A popular variation is the Nike Dunk Low Panda, which takes its name from the cohesive black and white look that has made it one of the fastest-selling shoes on the market.

Subsequently, this colorway – simply called the Panda Dunks – also has its controversies. Its overall “basic” design and perceived low-quality materials have made it one of the most hated shoes in the sneaker community.

However, you can’t deny that it’s a versatile pair that’s stylish no matter what outfit you choose to pair it with. Some people just can’t get enough of it and they will wear their Pandas with pride.

A pair that might be just as popular are the Samba shoes from Adidas. These simple low-cut sneakers gained a bit of a renaissance in 2023 as one of the most popular shoes, sometimes featured in business bazaars around the city.

The flat profile is neat and simple, often referred to as the ideal shoe to pair with any basic outfit. The soft soles make it a breeze to walk around in.

At Statoes, you can find some of the best casual shoes for men and women. You can check out pictures of Hollywood celebrities wearing some of the sneakers found in the store for some outfit inspiration.

Hoops fans can also cop signature basketball shoes. The store has famous pairs like the Giannis Immortality and the Precision 6s from Nike, as well as the Tatum 1s and the One Take 4s from the Jordan brand.

As seen on their Facebook page, many of their pairs are sold cheaper than the retail price. Buying new shoes all the time is not practical, but if it’s something you’re passionate about, you can’t complain.

Aside from that, Statoes also has a selection of sneaker care items such as cleaning kits to preserve your footwear, which helps if you plan on reselling them in the future.

THE RESALE MARKET

Many of these classic shoes tend to have a higher price value when you resell them to secondary markets like pawnshops or other shoe salesmen. With the right pair, you could potentially resell it for thousands of pesos.

According to Ape to Gentleman, the sneaker reselling business is all about buying low and selling high. You should do some serious research for upcoming releases to see which one would resell for a higher price.

However, there are some things to remember if you decide on reselling your sneakers. You may get less profit if you resell shoes that have major damages, so make sure you take good care of them.

You should also research what makes a specific shoe unique to avoid buying knockoffs. At the same time, make sure you know which versions would cost more when resold.

Check out sneaker blogs and websites for upcoming releases from every major sneaker company.

Lance and the employees at Statoes are pretty much updated about upcoming releases and will happily assist you with new products coming to their store.

This is what separates the store from other shoe stores and establishments, as it encourages the sharing of knowledge and information regarding new shoes among sneakerheads.

Not only does this help you learn about the latest shoe trends, but it also paves the way for a stronger connection in Cebu’s sneaker community.
