New Gasoline Station in Mabolo Has a Drive-Thru Patisserie

Share this:

Fueltech Mabolo is the first gasoline station in Cebu with a drive thru patisserie.

A gasoline station is no longer just a stopover for motorists to refuel. Even companies like the Shell gas station and Petron have rebranded to focus on giving motorists a great spot to dine, hang out, and relax.

Most cafes offer snacks, desserts, and a variety of drinks for customers to unwind, especially when they’re taking road trips around the city.

This is the exact setup you can expect at Fueltech’s first branch in Metro Cebu.

This is the first Fueltech branch in the city, located in the North Reclamation Area.

The Cebuano-owned business stands in the North Reclamation Area in Mabolo. This is also the first branch to introduce Octane + Caffeine, the first drive-thru gasoline station cafe in the city.

It’s a few meters away from one of Cebu’s biggest shopping malls, right across from the Radisson Blu hotel.

It’s also open 24 hours.

HIGH OCTANE FUEL

Fueltech started its business in 2015 in Liloan, then expanded to other Cebu provinces like Barili, Moalboal, and Balamban.

They’re known for their premium fuel that has high octane levels.

Aside from BioDiesel, Fueltech also offers regular and high octane, with octane ratings of 91 and 95% respectively.

The octane rating of fuel determines how heat resistant it is during combustion. High end vehicles need higher octane levels since their combustion is much stronger than regular cars.

As such, car owners must know what octane level is required for their vehicle.

If it requires a higher percentage, you must refuel with premium gas to preserve the engine.

The wrong kind of fuel can cause “knocking,” which is when the gas doesn’t reach the right combustion level. This emits a noticeable sound when driving, and in some rare cases even causes the engine to implode.

Luckily, most modern vehicles today only have an octane rating of around 87%, and can run smoothly regardless of what gas it’s fed.

However, cars with turbochargers require premium gasoline for better performance.

Premium gas improves torque and emits lower greenhouse gasses compared to cheaper fuel. More importantly, using higher octane fuel for high performance cars prevents the engine from knocking.

Subsequently, you won’t see the difference in feeding high octane gas to a regular car, since it does not improve the performance, and most road vehicles today can already function with just regular gasoline.

High octane fuel is much more expensive, so if your car doesn’t require higher octane levels, it may be smarter to go for the cheaper option.

Fueltech offers a promo where you can gain points every time you refuel.

If you get to a certain amount, you can either get a free 1.5 liter of Coca-Cola or purchase food at the Octane + Caffeine cafe.

DRIVE THRU CAFE AND GASOLINE STATION

Customers can order French pastries at this high end gasoline station.

The cafe’s kiosk stands between the fuel pumps, so customers can simply order their food from the safety of their cars.

Their coffee drinks are brewed from beans imported from Tuburan, Cebu’s coffee capital. Their head barista was trained abroad to curate and create the best selection of drinks for their customers.

Some of their bestsellers include the Caramel Macchiato and Cafe Latte, which have an irresistibly milky flavor that is best paired with their selection of pastries.

Other than that, you can get a free liter of gas if you order two cups of their signature coffee.

The gasoline station also doubles as a patisserie, with Octane + Caffeine cafe selling a bunch of French pastries and desserts.

Most cost less than Php 150, and it makes for a great light snack while you’re on the road.

Among their desserts are staples like the chocolate croissant, cinnamon roll, and blueberry danish.

Also, don’t miss out on their selection of cakes.

They have a dining area on the second floor.

You can park your vehicle at the gas station and hang out with friends or have some time to yourself.

There is a button on each of the tables, which you can press if you need help with something.

On the other hand, their al fresco dining area is right behind the Octane + Caffeine cafe.

The tables have a large umbrella to provide shade from the sun, while vintage Vespas give it some visual flair.

Another interesting thing about the gasoline station is its pursuit for inclusivity.

Fueltech has included an LGBT restroom to prevent discrimination and be more inclusive of LGBT customers.

They plan to provide an LGBT restroom in every Fueltech branch in Cebu.

Convenience stores at gasoline stations are slowly becoming go-to hangout spots not just for motorists, but for cafe lovers and food enthusiasts as well.

Aside from their high octane fuel, you can have a one-of-a-kind experience at their drive thru cafe.

If you’re looking for a place to hang out and enjoy a cup of coffee, give this new cafe a visit.
