Pizza is not only a well-known food in Italy and most western countries; it is also a crowd favorite in Cebu, Philippines. With a variety of toppings and sauces, pizza is one of the most popular food items in the city. In fact, pizza parlors have become aplenty due to its popularity. The fact that pizza is one of those comfort foods that you can eat at any time of the day—whether it’s breakfast, lunch, snack time, dinner, or midnight snacks—makes it one of the most sought-after foods everywhere.

There are more than 20 different pizza restaurants in Cebu that you can choose to eat from. Though some of these places may not be very well-known as of yet, but in time, they could become as big as names like Yellow Cab. If you are wondering what to do around Cebu, why not try the city’s best pizza parlors?

CEBU CITY’S MOST POPULAR PIZZA PARLORS

Yellow Cab

Yellow Cab Pizza is famous for their New York-style pizzas. What exactly is a New York-style pizza? In New York, USA, pizza is one of the most popular comfort foods. You can either eat one for snacks or consume several slices for your meals. As such, pizza has become one of the world’s most versatile food items.

New York wanted to make their own signature pizza, and as a result, the New York-style pizza was born. This style of pizza had a slightly charred crust, a chewy center, and a melted, gooey combination of cheese and toppings on the top. More importantly, New York-style pizza is oven-baked, fresh.

Yellow Cab started its humble beginnings in Makati back in 2001. As of now, Yellow Cab has extended its reach to Baguio, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and of course, Cebu.

Sbarro

Got a hankering for handmade pizza? Then visit Sbarro, Cebu! With its topnotch choices of pizza toppings, you can be sure that you are taking a bite off of the best pizza in the city. Sbarro also offers pasta with meatballs and a variety of sides that will, without a doubt, satisfy your palate.

If you haven’t already, give their best New York-style pizzas a try. It is one of their best-sellers, along with their pan pizza, Chicago White Deep Dish, stromboli, and of course, pasta. You can either buy pizzas by the slice, or if you’re that hungry or with family, a whole pizza should be more than enough to satisfy your cravings.

Calda Pizza

Calda Pizza Cebu is one of the newer pizza places in the city. While it is not as well-known as the other big names in the pizza-making business, Calda Pizza does offer one of the city’s most delicious pizzas served in a thin crust. And when we say thin, we mean you’ll never have to leave the crust after eating as it isn’t virtually there!

You can choose from a variety of sizes starting from their regular-sized 11-inch pizza to the infamous monster pizza in all its glory at 48 inches.

Calda Pizza has nine branches scattered around the city. This makes it easier to visit a store when you are craving that thin-crust pizza. With nine branches, delivery takes no more than several minutes wherever you are!

Handuraw Pizza

Handuraw Pizza is a one-of-a-kind pizza experience. Pronounced “han-doo-rau,” the pizza parlor started its roots as an events cafe where musical acts can perform gigs while customers enjoy good food and drinks. The cafe’s matriarch, Becky Pestaño Smith, coined the name Handuraw when they were looking for a Cebuano word that associates creativity and vision.

Handuraw is managed by Kasidlakan Incorporated, a Pestaño family company that envisioned Handuraw Pizza as a Filipino pizza place that incorporates community, family, and friendship, with good food and a warm ambience.

The first Handuraw branch opened in Mabolo. With the growth of the company’s events cafe, the family decided to venture into the pizza industry and came up with a family recipe for a thin-crust pizza unlike any other.

Along with the Mabolo branch, Handuraw eventually opened a shop along Gorordo Avenue. The branch continued the company’s vision of an events cafe and, despite being a pizza parlor, still catered to local music acts every night.

In 2012, Handuraw opened a branch in JY Square, Cebu, catering to the area’s mostly BPO community. Handuraw Pizza quickly became the best choice for comfort food for the many stressed-out workers as they try to relieve themselves. The location is also a prime meeting place for tourists as JY Square sits along the Transcentral Highway that features some of the best Cebu night spots.

Handuraw Pizza prides themselves as the only pizza parlor in the city that features local musical talents, and shows videos of local artists on their TV screens.

Enjoy the best pizza that Cebu has to offer. Whether you are alone or on a vacation with your family, going out for a meal in Cebu’s pizza parlors is never a bad idea. Cebu is best experienced by taking part in culinary favorites and becoming one with the community.
