Earn Extra Income in Cebu: Tips and Ideas to Consider

Share this:

Here are some practical ways to earn extra income in Cebu.

Want to know how you can earn extra income?

Whether it’s by starting your own business or investing your hard-earned savings, there are several opportunities where you can earn more than your regular salary.

On top of that, you can acquire useful skills that may come in handy in the future. That way, you will feel even more secure with your money.

While some business ventures can take time, others require little effort. It will all depend on what your financial goals are.

That being said, here’s how you can earn extra income in Cebu.

WAYS TO EARN EXTRA INCOME IN CEBU

  • Find a part-time job or sideline

You may already be earning from your current day job, but having another source of income can be a great help.

You can find tons of online jobs if you want to earn extra money, like freelance writing, video editing, graphic design, or even modeling. You can also make use of your talents by doing live performances at restaurants or bars, whether it’s singing, dancing, or playing an instrument.

You can also get commission by doing art.

Then again, this will depend on what your hobbies and talents are.

Some freelancing websites like Fiverr and Upwork allow you to market yourself to potential clients.

If you own a car, you can pass the time and earn money by becoming a Grab driver. Ride-hailing apps are all the rage these days, with Cebuanos relying on them for daily commutes and online food deliveries

This can help if you are still a student looking for extra cash to sustain your education. If not, you can get a part-time job at a coffee shop, especially since coffee shops are sprouting all around Cebu City.

  • Become a content creator

Content creation is a fun way to earn extra income.

You may think that being a vlogger won’t make you rich, but there have already been tons of well-earning content creators on Facebook and Youtube over the past few years.

Earning through content creation is not the easiest path to take if you want to earn extra income. That’s because you will need to sacrifice a lot of your time, effort, and even finances.

However, with the right concept, it is a fun and exciting way to earn money.

Do your research on how to be a more effective content creator, and learn about your platform’s rules and regulations to make sure you stay consistent.

Content creators rely on their views and followers to be monetized, hence its slow earnings process. But if you put in the work, you will eventually be rewarded and feel inspired to keep on going.

A bonus is you get to meet new people and receive freebies from various establishments. You might also get invited to special events because of how well known you are on your chosen platform.

This is why learning how to market yourself is just as important if you want to be a full-time creator.

  • Start a business

If you want to earn money for the long-term, your best option is to start your own business. People are generally interested in things like food and clothing, so creating a personalized store can entice customers to try something new.

You need to have good capital to start off, though. This could mean investing thousands in things like rent, labor, and utilities.

The Ukay Ukay business is doing pretty well in Cebu.

If you own a lot of unused clothes or shoes, you can start a small ukay-ukay business. Live online selling has also seen a rise in popularity thanks to applications like Lazada, Shopee, and even TikTok.

You can definitely earn much more depending on how successful your business is. If it becomes a huge success, you might eventually start managing it full-time.

Modern technology like smartphones and computers have made it much easier to become an entrepreneur. Then again, remember to stay consistent and continue to search for ways to improve your services to keep customers satisfied and interested.

  • Start investing

Some people prefer to earn passively. This is where investment and savings accounts come in handy. The process may be slow, but the rewards can also be satisfying.

Start a savings account in a bank where you can keep your money safe. Deposit money into the account on a regular basis. The more money you have in the bank, the more it will grow in the next few years.

PAG-IBIG offers several options for you to invest money.

One savings account you should try investing in is PAG-IBIG, which is also a Philippine government. If you have an account with PAG-IBIG, you can apply for their Modified Pag-Ibig II (MP2) savings account.

It has a pretty high dividend rate of 70%, and it’s open to retirees and pensioners. This is a voluntary program where you can earn much more than a regular Pag-Ibig savings account.

Electronic wallet apps like GCash and Maya also have their own investment options if you want something more accessible. If not, you can consider investing in cryptocurrency, but you’ll have to do a lot of research since it is quite risky.

Sometimes, having one regular day job is not enough to get by. If you want to earn extra income, you’ll have to put in the time and effort.

Remember that your part-time job or sideline doesn’t have to be as exhausting. Look for something interesting and fun. That way, it won’t always feel like a job.

With these tips in mind, you’ll know how to make extra income while working full-time. At the end of the day, you want to have a healthy relationship with money so you can live a happy and comfortable life.
