Book lovers can find a ton of books with huge discounts at the Big Bad Wolf event.

Books are a great source of knowledge. They transport you to different worlds or teach you important skills to use in the future.

You can learn a lot from reading various literary works from authors all around the world.

Aside from gaining knowledge, reading aids in communication and comprehension, as absorbing tons of media can help you speak, write, and understand better.

This is why Big Bad Wolf is an important event for many Cebuanos. The iconic book sale offers huge discounts on some of the world’s best fiction and non-fiction titles.

It officially returned in 2023 after a short hiatus amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the third iteration of the book sale in Cebu, and the first on the island since 2019.

SM Seaside was packed with book lovers scouring for their favorite titles.

The event will celebrate its 14th anniversary this year, and hundreds of book lovers in Cebu are excited to get their hands on their favorite titles.

Aside from Cebu, the event was also held in Manila, Davao, and Pampanga.

The previous Big Bad Wolf event ran for 10 days at the IC3 Convention Center near Cebu Business Park, for 24 hours.

This year, it will run from September 15th to October 1st, from 10 AM to 10 PM at the Lower Ground Level of the Cube Wing in SM Seaside Cebu. Hundreds of books are stacked at the venue, giving customers a run for their money.

This is one of the only events in Cebu City catering to bookworms, allowing them to add more to their “to-read” list at a cheaper price. It also empowers knowledge-seeking individuals by broadening their horizons through literature.

WHAT TO SEE AT BIG BAD WOLF

The enormous book sale continues to be one of the most sought-after events in Cebu City.

This year’s Big Bad Wolf book sale has free admission and is offering its biggest discounts yet. Many of their titles cost less than Php 1000, so you can buy as many as you can if you have the budget.

Piles of books can be found in every corner, organized according to genre or book type. Customers spend their time digging in to find the books that they want or any hidden gems that will be worth their money.

If you don’t have a list of books you want to get, you can look up the ones that are on sale on the Big Bad Wolf Facebook page. If not, you can freely browse through the books at the event or ask for recommendations from friends.

The venue is spacious and walking around is pretty enjoyable in itself. There are so many piles to dig into that you will definitely find something that will peak your interest.

You can also take some photos of books you want to add to your wishlist or get one for a friend.

You will definitely feel tempted to purchase a book at the event. There are a dozen genres available, from science fiction to fantasy, and several book types, from self-help guides to graphic novels.

The prices of the books are determined through a letter-coding system found on a sticker on the book.

A guide is hung above the pile of books, showing the corresponding price for each letter.

If you want to take a break from walking around, you can visit the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf stall. They offer a variety of coffee drinks, including their selection of pastries and treats.

ADVOCACY

Big Bad Wolf promotes communication proficiency through their catalog of mostly English language titles. Communicating in the universal language can help many of us talk and understand each other better.

The organization also aims to help the less fortunate by donating books through its Red Readership Program.

In previous iterations, Big Bad Wolf donated 500 books to Gawad Kalinga in support of their community libraries and learning centers.

It’s safe to say that this book sale is not just for bookworms, but also for those who value the importance of communication proficiency and reading comprehension.

The event is known for being able to purchase several books at a cheaper price, and it’s no surprise that many Cebuanos look forward to this event every year. Even getting one good book will leave you satisfied.

The event will run until the first week of October, so you still have time to visit the Big Bad Wolf book sale this weekend.
