The lights shine bright every night at Osmeña Boulevard when the Tree of Hope is lit up.

In Cebu City, the Fuente Osmeña Circle is a popular go-to place for any resident. Located in the dead center of the city, Fuente is home to the busiest traffic and loudest sidewalks. Every person who has been to Cebu has heard of or has gone to Fuente. Being one of the most popular nature parks in the city definitely helps. However, Fuente becomes something bigger, something grander when the yuletide season starts.

Every year, the Tree of Hope set up inside the Fuente Osmeña Circle is something that all Cebuanos expect every year. Witnessing its lighting ceremony is one of the best things to do in Cebu City when Christmas time comes around. The lights coming from the tree give off a wonderful view that lights up the sky like no other, making it great for your Cebu City nightlife.

The Fuente Tree of Hope was first erected in 2000, bringing joy and excitement to commuters, passersby, and tourists at the Osmeña Boulevard for two decades now. It is said to symbolize the partnership of the M. Lhuillier Group with the city of Cebu. Paired with the lit up ‘Welcome’ sign along the road, the Christmas cheer is very evident with the bright lights illuminating the night sky.

CHRISTMAS AT THE FUENTE OSMEÑA CIRCLE

The Tree of Hope at the Fuente Osmeña Circle is an iconic image of the Cebuano Christmas season.

Fuente brings in many people who consider the Osmeña Circle the best place to unwind in Cebu, especially during the month of December. Many families would bring their loved ones to sit down and enjoy the view. There are a lot of stalls that sell delicious food, and you can have a memorable dinner with the most special people in your life.

The lighting ceremony is a highly anticipated event for Cebuanos and tourists everywhere. Multiple performances and concerts come before the inevitable countdown to the tree’s lighting. You don’t even need to be inside the park to witness it, since there are a lot of people that would just stay at the skywalk across to witness the event.

The Fuente Osmeña Circle is also a great place in itself, even without the tree. After hanging out at the Circle, you can go to the many bars near Mango Avenue, that is if you want to spend more time outside while the night is young. Two Robinsons malls are also present in the area, so maybe you can do some important Christmas shopping for the people in your life.

The tree’s design is constantly changing every year, but the iconic symbols of Christmas celebration in the Philippines are present. A whole lot of Christmas lanterns and lights are present in any iteration of the tree, but since it is found in Cebu, there is always something that they add to make it more special for the locals

The lights of the Christmas tree at the Fuente Osmeña Circle give a grandiose image that you will have a hard time looking away from.

The Fuente Osmeña Circle is not only a heritage site that every Cebuano knows and loves, but it is also a great place to hang out and chill. The distance to the many places in Cebu that you will find in your itinerary is a big bonus. Then again, Fuente won’t be what it is if it wasn’t for the building of Cebu’s biggest Christmas decoration. There are many decorations for Christmas in the Philippines, but they have nothing against the biggest Christmas tree in Cebu City.

When December comes around, Cebu City becomes the best place to celebrate Christmas in the Philippines, all because of that bright, tall, and impressive Christmas tree at the Fuente Osmeña Circle. As a Cebuano, it is almost tradition to witness the tree’s lighting ceremony, as it symbolizes the start of the season of giving. It is a reminder that Christmas is better celebrated with the people you love, and the people you find special. It is a go-to place no matter what the time of day, and will always be a symbol that screams Cebu to anyone in the world.
