Looking for a place to relax in Moalboal? Locals will definitely recommend Basdaku White Beach!

Where is your go-to spot for a getaway in Cebu?

For residents and visitors of Moalboal, it may be the breathtaking tourist spot known as the White Beach.

Basdaku White Beach is located in Barangay Saavedra, often cited as one of the best beaches in Cebu. It has everything you need for a relaxing day by the sea.

The name translates to “big sand” in the Cebuano language, referencing its kilometer-long coastline where visitors can enjoy various activities–from sunbathing to building sand castles.

On busy days, guests can be seen walking around and enjoying the atmosphere. It’s a popular spot and a good entry point if you want to know what the beaches are like in Moalboal.

EXPLORING BASDAKU WHITE BEACH

The entrance fee to this Moalboal beach is around Php 10 to 20. There is an additional parking fee of Php 50 for big vehicles and Php 20 for motorcycles.

Additionally, visitors need to pay Moalboal’s environmental fee of Php 25 before entering. This is used to preserve and maintain the town’s many ecotourism spots.

You can pay this fee at kiosks located at the entrance to Panagsama Beach or at a checkpoint going to Basdaku White Beach. You only need to pay once, so don’t lose the receipt that they give you.

Take note that these kiosks only accept cash, so make sure to bring pocket money with you on your trip. You can also stop by any Euronet ATM around town.

Once you’re inside, you will find a small aisle of carenderias and sari-sari stores selling food and essentials. There are also a few vendors offering blankets and carpets for rent which you can use while lounging by the beach.

They will charge you around Php 100 to 200 for it, but you can also bring your own setup. If you don’t have one, you can opt for camping chairs or towels instead.

Tents, however, are not allowed at the beach.

A Moalboal beach resort may cost a lot more, but if you’re content with being able to enjoy the sun and soothing waters of this famous town, Basdaku is the ideal option.

Whether alone or with family and friends, there is no shortage of things to do with an accessible and spacious beach such as this.

Frequent visitors to Basdaku have lauded the sunset view as well, so if sightseeing is your thing, visit the beach in the afternoon and catch it for yourself.

A few vendors will be walking around the beach, selling you souvenirs like keychains, fridge magnets, and necklaces as a reminder of your trip. They are quite affordable, and they’re a great way to support the locals in Moalboal.

You can also rent a cottage, which is ideal for big groups. There is no corkage fee, so you are free to bring any food that you can eat or cook.

Basdaku White Beach has a few rooms by the beachfront, which are all relatively affordable and kitted out with good facilities.

For other accommodations, the HK Beach Resort is one of the top hotels nearby with air-conditioned rooms, free parking, full service-laundry, and its own restaurant.
