I took a leap of faith.
Here’s a photo of me jumping off the first level of Kawasan Falls. To be honest, I never expected to try something like this, even if it’s one of Cebu’s most recommended recreational activities.
It’s opportunities like this that help me appreciate my work as part of the Cebu Insights team.
Back when I started in 2020, I simply thought of Cebu Insights as a place where I could hone my writing skills, as my previous jobs had a different kind of storytelling, where a visual element would support my words on the page.
I understand that Cebu Insights is first and foremost an avenue for travelers to discover what Cebu has to offer, providing informative articles about different activities, events, and tourist attractions on the island.
With a goal of traveling and documenting these places to be able to share authentic experiences, I aimed not only to tell the truth about Cebu, but to also show it.
I traveled far and wide (sometimes by myself) to countryside provinces like Medellin for the bamboo forest or Tuburan to try their coffee, exploring the island’s famous locales and hidden gems.
We have published hundreds of articles intended not only for travelers, but also locals who may not know about these picturesque spots. We highlight important details that we believe could create the perfect experience for anyone looking to visit these places.
This is one aspect of the job I cherish.
As the website grew, we added more manpower to expand our reach through social media posts, videos, and special partnerships with local events and businesses.
The website became a platform for businesses to gain more exposure on the internet, all for free.
For many years, we worked independently, relying on strategic SEO practices for our blogs to be read and discovered.
Now, it is with great pleasure and honor to have been shortlisted for the “Best Cebu Travel Blog” category for the BEST CEBU BLOG AWARDS 2024.
This is a massive achievement, especially since this is the first time the website gained recognition for its efforts as a Cebu-based travel blog. We have continuously worked on getting our content noticed, and this nomination is a testament to that.
We are thankful for all those who explored our website and shared our content. Above all, we are grateful and excited to be one of the finalists for this distinguished award.

BEST CEBU BLOG AWARDS 2024
The Best Cebu Blog Awards (BCBA) is the only awarding body recognizing bloggers and social media influencers in Cebu. It highlights the growing number of Cebuano content creators from different niches like food, style, technology, and travel.
It is organized by the Cebu Bloggers Society, led by founder Mark M. Monta along with several dedicated blogger volunteers.
Today, the main BCBA consists of Monta, Gazelle Tapangan-Maningo, and Cebu-based judge, Ms. Nancy Cudis-Ucag.
Along with Ms. Cudis-Ucag, the awards are decided by judges from outside of Cebu, including those from Manila, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, General Santos, and Davao.
The 17th BCBA Ceremony will be held on November 28th at the Oakridge Horizons Cafe, Oakridge Business Park from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
