Terrazas de Flores: A Flower Garden Made Out of Love

Share this:

Terrazas de Flores is a flower garden that was built out of love from a father to his children.

Do you know what your love language is?

It’s a given that we all express love differently, but others would go as far as creating a special place for the people they care about. That being said, few Cebu tourist spots have gained massive popularity following this display of affection.

We’re talking about the beautiful flower garden of Terrazas de Flores, built as a testament of a father’s love to his three children.

While most grand gestures like this come from a place of romance, others take inspiration from familial love. This is what makes the flower garden so inspiring, as family plays a big role in Filipino culture.

Located in Cebu Transcentral Highway, Terrazas de Flores is considered one of the most underrated tourist attractions in the city.

This mesmerizing tourist attraction is accessible through the Cebu transcentral highway.

Additionally, this botanical garden cafe is one of the first flower terraces in the Philippines housing hundreds of different plants and flowers on an uphill slope.

You may be prohibited from touching or picking the flowers, but you can take delight in walking around the garden and taking in the fantastic view of the colorful flora. You can also enjoy a one-of-a-kind culinary experience at the garden’s cafe.

So, how did this tourist spot become what it is today?

FLOWER GARDEN > BOUQUET

The flower garden has a total of 56 terraces with over 127 species of flowers.

Yuri Barrameda didn’t think that bouquets were enough to give to his three children Carmela, Cheska, and Moses.

Looking for something bigger, he took two hectares of land and converted it into a massive flower garden. After nine years, with the help of some villagers, Terrazas de Flores officially opened in 2006 in the residential district of Malubog.

The flower garden has a total of 56 terraces and houses around 127 different flora, which come in various shapes and sizes, creating a scenery like no other.

Terrazas isn’t just a haven for flowers, as several trees with lights hanging from the branches stand by the slope. There are even special plants provided by students from prominent universities.

Yuri dedicated the flower garden to his three children, taking inspiration from them and using it to complete the different parts of the park.

The three private cabanas are painted in each of the children’s favorite colors: blue, pink, and green. There is also a painting of the children in the cafe, with Chris Ogden’s “The Father’s Love” right next to it.

You can also visit the flower garden to celebrate the arts industry in Cebu, as it has a room full of paintings made by Cebuano artists.

These paintings were provided by members of the Cebuano Arts Club.

TERRAZAS GARDEN CAFE

An afternoon or evening at the cafe will definitely be worth your while, where you can appreciate the ambiance and exquisite architecture.

This cafe in Cebu has a vintage and rustic look because of the brick wall and stone pathway, while a mini garden waterfall adds to its relaxing atmosphere.

Al fresco dining areas are available as well, which offer a mesmerizing view of Cebu City’s mountain ranges.

The upper dining area is spacious enough for events and special occasions like parties or company meetings.

Start your day with their selection of Espresso and Non-Espresso based coffee drinks, or try some of their teas and shakes if you aren’t much of a caffeine freak.

If not, you can order a glass of wine from their selection.

Main food offerings include authentic Asian noodles and all-day breakfast meals. For snacks, you can order fries, a sandwich, pizza, or salad.

Terrazas de Flores was built as a dedication to Yuri’s children, highlighting the lengths a father would go to show his love.

Visitors to this beautiful garden cafe can take inspiration from the wholesome story of how it was made. But most of all, they can revel in the mesmerizing view and serene atmosphere of the garden.

If you’re curating a list of places in Cebu to look out for, this underrated gem should pique your attention because of its one-a-kind design and fine dining experience.
