Beaches and resorts are major reasons to visit the Philippines.
However, some refuse to have sandy shorts or algae in the water. Luckily, swimming pools and water slides provide a good atmosphere — maybe even better.
These attractions are abundant in the newest water park in Cebu, WaterWorld, which hopes to become the best weekend getaway this summer.
The new recreational center was supposed to open in December 2019, but the coronavirus pandemic halted its operations temporarily. A year or so later, the park reopened to give swim fans a new hangout spot.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT CEBU’S BIGGEST WATER PARK IN CEBU
10 MASSIVE SLIDES
This new water park in Cebu has the big water slides suited for the most daring of thrill seekers as one of its main attractions. With its variety of heights, you’ll either be screaming, “This is fun!” or, “Get me out of here!”
- Tornado
- 40 meter water slide
- Family Camel Slide
- Family Rapid Slide
- 2 Mat Racers (15 meters)
- 2 Speed Shooters (18 meters)
- Dare Drop Vertical Slide
- Space Hole
RIVER RAPIDS
Ever wanted to float on top of a stream? The 400 meter River Rapids is the best that WaterWorld has to offer!
With tons of yellow floaters, you can have a worthwhile conversation with your friends or play some fun games under the sun.
CHILDREN’S WATERHOUSE
In conjunction with the water slides for adults, they also have a child-friendly waterhouse. The slides will definitely give them the thrills, while the miniature showers give them a soothing bath.
TSUNAMI WAVE POOL
Rounding out their attractions is the 1,500 square meter Tsunami Wave pool. This can bring the excitement of the beach to an otherwise stagnant outdoor swimming pool.
Wave surfing could be a fun activity at Tsunami, that is if you think that the floaters in the River Rapids need a little more excitement.

LOCATION
WaterWorld is located right next to Marcelo Fernan Bridge in Barangay Umapad. Those who are familiar with this structure know that it connects Mactan Island to Mandaue City.
There are many hotels in Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu that are quite close to the water park, one of which is Maayo Hotel.
You should probably bring your personal vehicle to get here, though. Commuting to the water park might force you to ride multiple jeepneys if you don’t live nearby.
Most V-Hires will pass by the old bridge instead of Marcelo Fernan (which is the new one), so if the route you’ll be taking is the former, be ready to ride another jeep or taxi to bring you to your destination.

It’s hard to compete with other tourist spots in the Philippines. To stand out, you have to go big.
This is indeed one tourist spot that shows that with maximum effort, something magical can come your way.
Bigger than average kid amusement parks filled with activities for all ages, WaterWorld is the one water park in Cebu that screams summer vacation! Its variation of slides and other fun rides give you the much needed break under the heat of the sun every summer.
If this doesn’t make you want to try this new water park in Cebu, I don’t know what will.
