THE CINNABON LEGACY
According to Cinnabon’s official page, Rich and Greg Komen, a father and son duo, kick off the story in early 1985. Their goal was to make “the world’s greatest cinnamon roll from scratch.” (2020)
To achieve this, they sought the assistance of Jerilyn Brusseau, a renowned master baker in the Seattle area.
Perfecting the dough, the cinnamon filling, and most importantly, that recognizable cream cheese frosting, required months of experimentation, innumerable recipes, and relentless improvement. Among the high-quality ingredients they sourced was Indonesia’s exclusive Makara® Cinnamon.
On December 4, 1985, the first Cinnabon bakery opened its doors in Seattle, Washington’s SeaTac Mall (now The Commons at Federal Way), fulfilling their delicious dream.
The first Cinnabon® cinnamon bun quickly became an obsession after being devoured by thousands of anticipating customers.
