Mactan Newtown: An Oasis for Business and Pleasure

Explore the many business and leisure opportunities that await at Mactan Newtown!

If Cebu City has IT Park, Lapu-Lapu City has Mactan Newtown.

The township program is the perfect blend of business and pleasure, with world-class establishments and residential areas close to the soothing waters of the Mactan Channel.

The accommodation works well for a much needed staycation or as an investment. There is also a food park and several cafes and restaurants where you can dine and enjoy the company of loved ones.

One thing’s for sure, there is a lot to love and look forward to at Mactan Newtown!

MEGAWORLD PROGRAM

Mactan Newtown is owned by Megawold Corporation, one of the country's leading real estate developers.

Mactan Newtown was developed by Megaworld Corporation, an industry forerunner in developing business hubs and residential areas in the country. It is the first township program to have its very own beachfront.

The 30-hectare “live-work-play-learn” environment consists of condominiums, hotels, retail shops, and even a school. It has also allocated 150,000 square meters for their “cyber park” of BPO companies.

It aims to be a hub for the IT industry, with international companies already occupying several buildings. The five-storey, 6,000 square-meter One World Center, for example, is being rented out by BPO locators like Results Manila and EnfraUSA.

Other than that, there are two four-star hotels in Mactan Newtown, namely Belmont and Savoy.

Here, you will find the biggest McDonalds branch in Cebu, also located at One World Center. It has a capacity of 350 people, a drive-thru, and a play area for kids.

Megaworld also plans to build a lifestyle mall by the beachfront.

All of this has allowed the township program to win the “Best Mixed-Use Development for Visayas and Mindanao” at the Outlook Awards in 2019. They were praised for their impressive mix of residential and commercial spaces.

WHAT TO DO IN MACTAN NEWTOWN

  • Luxury Accommodation

Mactan has always been a hotbed for staycations and weekend getaways. If you’re looking for something new, not to mention affordable, there are quite a few options at Mactan Newtown.

The condominiums are known to have state-of-the-art facilities for a beach resort-like experience. You can already tell just by how they look from the outside.

The entire area is filled with trees and it’s spacious enough for you to enjoy leisurely strolls.

Going to the beach is just a five to ten minute walk as well. If you want to explore a tourist attraction, Mactan Shrine is close by.

Pearl Global Residences is the tallest among the residential buildings in Mactan Newtown, standing 20 storeys high. It has 222 units which you can purchase at Php15,000 a month for the first year.

It offers a 360 degree-view of the entire township, as well as the mountains and islands surrounding Mactan. Their amenities also make it the first smart-home-ready condominium on the entire island.

As for hotels, Belmont Hotel Mactan is worth noting. Apart from being close to the beach, a 7-Eleven convenience store, and several other establishments, it also exudes elegance, luxury, and style.

Guests can purchase a unit at the hotel to occupy or invest in. They offer a hassle-free investment process, with their real estate partner Prestige Hotels & Resorts, Inc. advertising units through different mediums.

Like many other food parks, the al fresco dining setup makes it convenient for guests to dine and relax.

As mentioned, Mactan Newtown also has its own food park called the Mactan Alfresco.

All the food and beverage stalls are housed under a large gazebo-like structure, giving you that resort feel as you take in the fresh breeze and relaxing ambiance.

This is one of the most accessible areas in Mactan Newtown, located right across the passenger terminal.

Enjoy a selection of Filipino food favorites in an al fresco dining setup. This is where you will find table areas with traditional jeepneys as a gimmick.

The open space also makes it ideal for families to hang out and let their kids play. It’s like having a food trip at the park.

This is a great place to try lechon if you haven’t already. They have their own Roasting Station for stalls that sell lechon meals.

Mactan Alfresco has hosted many events highlighting Filipino culture, one of which is the Lechon Festival. This is where many of the island’s best lechoneros gather to whip up their best tasting lechon baboy.

  • Social Events and Festivals

Mactan Newtown is a notable landmark in itself, and it has been the go-to venue for several local and international events.

For instance, the Ironman marathon has included Mactan Newtown in its route since 2022.

It’s one of the most intense sporting events in the world, where some of the world’s best runners, cyclists, and swimmers take part in a race in both land and sea.

This spans different areas of the island, including Cebu City and Cordova.

Another notable large-scale event is the Garbo sa Lapu-Lapu Festival, which is the city’s local fiesta. This can be likened to Sinulog, where contingents dance and perform in a bustling street parade.

This is a great experience if you’re curious about how other cities and towns celebrate their own local festivals. It’s also a fun and exciting way to interact with tourists and fellow Cebuanos.

With all this in mind, what do you look forward to experiencing at Mactan Newtown?

A lot of opportunities await at this famous business and commercial center. This could be the perfect start to exploring the best that Mactan Island has to offer!
