How to Get to SRP Cebu: Public Transport Options

Share this:

You don’t need a private vehicle to get to SRP Cebu.

News of the 11A jeepney (Colon Street to Inayawan) adding SRP Cebu to their route surfaced online, exciting many with the possibility of better accessibility to the highly developed highway.

Unfortunately, this is untrue.

Commenters who have been on these modernized jeeps mentioned that drivers cut trips and stop at Barangay Inayawan. Those that do complete the route only do so when the jeepney is full or with plenty of passengers.

This is unfortunate, as public transport has always been an issue along Cebu South Road. There are no Cebu jeepney routes going directly to SRP, causing many to resort to pricier public transport options like taxis and ride-hailing apps.

Vehicular traffic and poor management have also caused a stir among motorists, which many believe is the reason why jeepney drivers don’t dare pass the busy highway.

However, SRP Cebu is frequented by both locals and tourists, as this is where you will find SM Seaside, NUSTAR Resort & Casino, and the newly renovated IL Corso Filinvest Malls.

But did you know that these locations offer public transportation options to easily bring guests to their premises? Some of them are even free of charge.

They have automatically become the most convenient forms of transportation to get to SRP, so here are the ones you should definitely know about.

COMMUTING TO SRP CEBU

  • Free MyBus ride from Fuente to SM Seaside Cebu

SM Prime Holdings initiated the MyBus operations in order to easily connect customers to their different malls. To go to SM Seaside, you can ride a bus from SM City or Fuente Osmeña Circle.

The latter in particular is notable since it’s free for everyone. Buses come in 20-minute intervals and are operational from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

SM Seaside is its only drop-off point, but it may pick up passengers along V. Rama (USC South Campus skywalk) and N. Bacalso Street (Salazar Institute of Technology skywalk).

  • CiBus from Cebu IT Park to IL Corso

You can take the white CiBus parked in front of the IT Park Public Transport Terminal. The buses were initially intended to be used as a dry run for the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit System to connect passengers from uptown areas to SRP Cebu.

Its final stop is at IL Corso, but it allows drop-offs along the way. They also pick up passengers at specific areas like Ayala Center Cebu, Cebu South Bus Terminal, and Fuente Osmeña.

Their schedule is from 5:30 AM to 9:30 PM daily, with a Php 15 minimum fare. Trips to IT Park and other areas start at the terminal on the south side of the mall.

  • City di Mare buses at various locations bound for IL Corso

Another free public transport option are the colorful buses parked at IL Corso, sponsored by City di Mare. Running from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily, its three routes traverse highly populated areas that need more public transportation.

The pink route is the shortest, passing through several areas in Talisay before going back to the terminal. The blue route on the other hand is the longest, passing through downtown areas like Plaza Sugbo and Parian before passing Pardo and Bulacao.

Finally, the green route’s final stop is at the city’s most populated neighborhood, Guadalupe. It passes through Punta, Tisa, Banawa, and the Guadalupe Church, and vice versa.

  • Free shuttle service at various locations bound for NUSTAR Resort & Casino

Lastly, those who wish to visit NUSTAR Resort & Casino can avail the free shuttle service at several designated pick-up and drop-off points, like the Ayala Malls, two Robinsons branches, and business centers like Vibo Place and Paseo Arcenas.

Each shuttle area has a specific schedule with vastly different intervals. To know the complete schedule, visit the NUSTAR official website.

This is open to both hotel guests and visitors of the mall, but comes on a first come first serve basis. However, you can sign up for the NUSTAR Rewards Membership Program to have access to priority seating.

Commuting to SRP Cebu might be an ongoing issue due to a lack of public transport options, but with so many developments coming in the future, a proper commute system could soon come to fruition.

The aforementioned options serve as a stepping stone, as they offer better accessibility to important tourist locations. Each one is convenient both in terms of pricing and service.
