Hop on a Floating Cottage at El Nero Cordova!

Share this:

Right off the coast of Cordova is the El Nero Floating Cottage!

Have you ever been in a floating cottage? It’s a unique accommodation that may only last a few hours but gives a delightfully relaxing experience and the opportunity to have fun with friends and loved ones.

You can jump into the clear blue waters or relax under the shade. It’s an activity for both barkadas and families to enjoy.

The town of Cordova Cebu has several floating cottage rental services you can try out. The newest is the El Nero Floating Cottage in Bantayan Bay.

Enjoy the soothing waters of Bantayan Bay in Cordova Cebu.

For 3,000 or less, El Nero offers affordable, safe, and soothing accommodations, perfect for you and around 20 other people. Once you’re in your cottage, you can take a dip in the ocean and enjoy the fresh breeze.

GOING TO YOUR FLOATING COTTAGE

To get to your floating cottage, you’ll have to ride a bangka.

The rental service is accessible through the Cordova RORO port, next to the recently opened al fresco dining establishment Parola. Visitors will ride motorized boats, locally called bangkas, to get to their floating cottages.

As you depart the port, you will notice other cottages of different shapes and sizes, filled with food, excited swimmers, and recreational items like karaoke machines and sound systems powered by portable generators.

The boatmen will drop you off at a specific cottage exclusively for your group in the middle of the sea.

WHAT IS IN THE COTTAGE?

The El Nero cottages are made up of local materials like bamboo and wood. Several bumps and creaks may leave you questioning its structural integrity, but they are sturdy enough to withstand strong winds and waves.

There is also a table in the middle to place your food and drinks. Bringing your own food is the best option since there is no corkage fee and you can use a grilling station that is on board for free.

The cottage also has a restroom/changing area. You may struggle to keep your balance while you are inside, so you can ask someone to stay by the door if you need assistance.

A UNIQUE SWIMMING EXPERIENCE

The cottages are located in Bantayan Bay near the Mactan Channel. The vast sea is calm and serene, and you will only experience this type of luxury when you go on island hopping tours.

Since the floating cottages are out in the middle of the sea, one can expect that it will be quite deep to swim into – which might be a little scary for those who don’t know how to swim. Fortunately, several life jackets and floaters are on board to help you stay afloat if you want to get into the water.

Within the cottage is a portion that looks like a little pool, designed specifically for children and adults who don’t know how to swim. Parents can watch over their children more conveniently this way since there is also a net at the bottom.

Aside from this, a lifeguard will stay inside the cottage for the entirety of the trip to make sure everyone is safe.

If you don’t want to swim, you can always sit down and relax under the shade or on any of the bamboo benches by the pool. Even if you decide to take selfies or lie down, this is quite a unique experience compared to most Cebu beaches.

The town of Cordova continues to give us more places to visit and experience. Aside from its already storied food culture, the number of beaches and relaxing accommodations continue to attract more visitors to this coastal town.

El Nero Floating Cottage is the town’s newest summer getaway, with a soothing atmosphere that rivals even the most popular establishments on the island. One thing’s for sure, spending quality time with family and friends in a floating cottage will definitely be worth your while.
