Buwakan ni Alejandra is a famous Cebu tourist spot in Balamban that you should not miss.

The municipality of Balamban has utilized its picturesque mountains to create some of the most attractive places in Cebu. High-altitude restaurants and impressive gardens are very common in this northwestern town.

That being said, the iconic flower farm, Buwakan ni Alejandra, has gained a lot of popularity among travelers around the area. This 700 square meter garden houses 200 varieties of the most amazing flora you will ever see.

The name translates to Alejandra’s flower garden.

Alejandra is said to be the name of the mother-in-law of the establishment’s landscaper, councilman Eleuterio Gentapa. He noticed her vast collection of plants after visiting her in 1991. It therefore gave this iconic Cebu tourist spot the name that everybody knows.

This beautiful flower farm will definitely be a feast for your eyes!

The color palette produced by the flowers makes it very captivating.

If you’re looking for a list of places in Cebu where you can unwind and relax, this flower garden is definitely ideal, especially for green thumbs. Dahlias, Roses, Hibiscus, and Angel Trumpets create a colorful backdrop for anyone looking to take a snap of this beautiful place.

You will most likely stay for a few hours to make sure that you experience the garden in its entirety. The twists and turns are unlike any nature park you have ever been to.

Picking the flowers is prohibited at the flower garden. You can take photos and touch them lightly, but you are not allowed to remove them from the soil.

Visiting a flower farm may not be one of the most exciting things to do in Cebu island, but it’s definitely worth the experience!

A colorful rainbow bridge is suspended above the garden. This gives a panoramic view of the garden and the lush mountains surrounding it, making it one of the best features of this countryside attraction.

Even some of the top tourist spots in the Philippines can’t compare to this incredible attraction!

How to Get There

Located in Barangay Gaas, Buwakan ni Alejandra is very close to other famous tourist spots around the area. So if you ever plan on dropping by this breathtaking garden, why not stop over some of the other attractions along the way?

Recreational activities in Cebu include ziplining and riding cable cars, both of which you can try out at Adventure Cafe and JVR, also located in Balamban

Public vehicles are very scarce in the area, so you might want to bring your own or rent one. However, if you dare to commute, you can pass by the garden by riding a van-for-hire at Ayala Center Cebu or IT Park. The fare will cost you around 160.

The entrance fee to the garden is only 75 for adults and 50 for children 6-10 years old and senior citizens.

Alternatives

If you’re looking for other flower farms, The Little Amsterdam in Barangay Sirao is a good alternative. It is also more accessible since it’s closer to Cebu City.

If you’re looking for somewhere that’s closer to the Metro, Plaza Independencia is another park where you can relax and unwind, although it’s much smaller in size compared to the other two flower gardens.

There are also other tourist spots in town where you can take part in some exciting outdoor activities. For trekking, you can go to Mount Manunggal. There are outdoor restaurants, like Charlie’s Cup, and adrenaline pumping activities, like the zipline in Adventure Cafe.

There are many more things to do in Cebu island that will make you appreciate nature. The municipality of Balamban is one of the most ideal places to experience this. Getting there may be tough, but it will be worth your while once you enter the famous Buwakan ni Alejandra.

Most tourist spots in the Philippines are historical sites and places with breathtaking views, but this famous flower garden in Balamban is something both tourists and locals will definitely appreciate and possibly fall in love with.
