City of Naga Boardwalk: A Stunning Walk Above the Ocean

Share this:

The City of Naga Boardwalk is a great hangout spot for a walk by the sea.

The City of Naga is not your typical countryside destination. One of Cebu’s biggest festivals, the Dagitab, also known as the Festival of Lights, is celebrated here annually. There are many spots and spectacles that make this rising business sector stand out among other Southern Cebu towns. You may have known about this industrial town because of its trekking hotspot, Mt. Naupa, but a more established tourist spot has emerged as one of the most relaxing places to go to. The City of Naga Boardwalk is a hybrid of a relaxing nature park where you can also have a peaceful walk by the sea, giving you a new bayside attraction to do your favorite recreational activities.

THE BEAUTIFUL BOARDWALK

The City of Naga Boardwalk is a great place for a morning jog or an evening stroll.

Sometimes called the Naga Baywalk, this large and spacious recreation ground has become known as the City of Naga’s most popular public park. Unlike other nature parks in neighboring cities, Naga Boardwalk is hidden away from the highways and sidewalks. The best part is that there isn’t an entrance fee, which makes giving this place a visit one of the many cheap things to do in Cebu.

Also in the running to be the best place to unwind in Cebu, nothing is more relaxing than enjoying a cool breeze paired with a beautiful view on a sunny day. Unfortunately, the absence of a roof will be a concern. Plan your visit properly by checking the weather beforehand. You should go to the park either early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the heat of the sun.

Your first option of things to do is to simply sit down. Benches facing the sea are installed so that you can sightsee and watch the clear skies. You can set up a picnic, but make sure that you will be bringing a cloth for when you sit on the floor. There is enough space for you to run, walk, and chat with your friends or family, or have a solo trip to relax.

You can have many great conversations by the sea at this famous Cebu tourist spot.

This Cebu tourist spot is also home to many frames that photographers love to take advantage of. You shouldn’t be surprised when tourists take many selfies or portraits of their companions because of how photogenic the City of Naga Boardwalk is. With many options of subjects and backgrounds, from the “Love” Structure to the leading lines of the wooden planks, this is indeed a perfect canvas for any photographer to paint on.

The boardwalk isn’t the only place you can go to, however, as there are many other places along the way that you might find interesting. The park has many food stalls that sell everything, from traditional Filipino street food to the new food trends that are taking over social media. You even have several fast food chains like Chowking and Jollibee around the block if you are craving those burgers, fries, and rice meals.

You can enjoy sightseeing at the City of Naga Boardwalk with the benches facing the ocean.

Early in the morning, you can join many health junkies and joggers breaking a sweat before the sun starts to become unbearable. The large space is the perfect jogging spot for an intense sprint or calm brisk walk. There are even venues for sports enthusiasts to train and practice their respective games. You can shoot some hoops at the basketball court, hit birdies in badminton, or serve fly balls in volleyball.

The City of Naga Boardwalk lights up the sky when the sun sets.

Most people go to the park at night. There might be a lot of exciting and enjoyable things to do in Cebu City, but if you’re looking to relax and have some down time, the City of Naga Boardwalk is the place to be. It also helps that it is made to shine the brightest at night. The lights on the boardwalk make it even more photogenic. A contender in being the best place to go in Cebu at night, one will have no trouble looking for a hefty meal or a nightly stroll, even during the wee hours of the evening.

CITY OF NAGA BOARDWALK IN CHRISTMAS

The City of Naga Boardwalk always has a wonderful display during Christmas time.

With all these attributes, the Naga Boardwalk is indeed a great place to visit no matter what day of the year. Keep in mind that the citizens of Naga have something even more special prepared when December comes.

Every year, they go over the top with a plethora of Christmas lanterns hanging on the walls and branches of the trees in the area. With the Dagitab Festival always celebrated in December, this is a perfect time to go to the Boardwalk and experience its spectacle.

To get to the Naga Boardwalk, you have several options. First, you can ride a public utility jeepney outside the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Punta Princesa that will bring you directly to Naga Proper. You can also ride the same jeepney at the Pardo Church. However, make sure to ask if the driver will pass by Naga since there are other jeepneys that would only stop in Minglanilla.

If you want to be assured that you will get there, you can also ride a KMK Bus at SM City Cebu. This will bring you right to the City of Naga. However, you will have to compromise by waiting in line, since there are not that many KMK buses available in Cebu.

You can get off at the Naga Church, which is right across the city’s plaza. The City of Naga Boardwalk is a few meters behind the soccer field at the center of the plaza.

If you are looking for a great place to relax, work out, and have a great time, all while on your way to many other travel destinations, the City of Naga Boardwalk is an ideal tourist spot that will fulfill your needs. There are many things that you can try at your disposal. From jogging and intense workouts to the calm and relaxing walk along the coast, this is a spot that you will never get tired of visiting.
