Visiting Cebu Wine Shops: A Soothing Adventure for the Soul

Whatever the celebration is, there is a perfect wine for that in these Cebu wine shops.

According to Ernest Hemingway, “Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world.” You would agree to this if you would learn how wine is made. Wine-making is a process of meticulous steps to create such refined liquor. The balanced sweet and bitter taste of wine can make your day better, if not great. With the right choice, it can make a perfect pair of a meal.

There are places in Cebu that you can go to if you need that warmth wine can provide. Beginners can enjoy a pinot noir or a chardonnay, or Syrah or tawny port if you want a higher alcohol content. Other than wine, you can also find other sophisticated drinks, like whiskies and spirits, and even rare liquors in these go-to Cebu wine shops:

D+B Wine Shop

Dondi and Corinne Joseph are well-traveled. During their adventures, they have known and loved different cultures, food, and wines. They have shared their love for wines with Cebuanos by establishing D+B Wine Shop in 2003.

The couple do not just sell any wine. These wines are carefully chosen and have been tasted by the owners. Regardless of the price, Dondi and Corinne sell only the wines they know and like. Most of them are even their favorites. And since the couple have been traveling a lot, the wine cellar is filled with wines from all over the world.

For Dondi and Corrine, choosing the right bottle of wine is giving yourself pleasure and satisfaction. They take pride in sharing their personal choice in wine and their stories on how they have encountered the drinks.

Because of the couple’s passion, D+B Wine Shop has won the SunStar’s Best Wine Selection in Cebu award for 4 years in a row. The shop is among the leaders in importing and distributing high-quality wines. The well-stocked wine library is composed of more than 800 wines from France, Italy, Germany, and Spain among others—all approved by Dondi and Corinne. The curation of wines with a personal touch is what sets D+B apart from other wine shops.

Bibendum Wines

Wines of top quality are what you can find in Bibendum. It has been the favorite Cebu wine shop since its establishment in 2012. Bibendum Wines continues to offer a wide selection of wines from different parts of the globe to Central and Southern Philippines.

The management takes the quality of wines seriously. The wines that come from France, USA, Australia, Spain, and South Africa, to name a few, are stored in climate-controlled storage facilities even during shipping. This process is done to ensure that the quality of wines remains top-notch.

You may get overwhelmed with the wide selection of wine and may not know which wine to get once you are there. Good thing Bibendum offers free tasting among 8 kinds of wine before purchasing. They also guide you through the point system provided to understand the quality of the wines.

Their branch in Streetscape, Banilad, also has a deli that offers cold cuts and different kinds of cheese that you can pair with your glass or bottle of wine. If you want to enjoy the wine at your home, you can have them deliver it to you through Foodpanda or their website.

Pair your favorite meal with the right wine!

Golden Chateau Cellar Co.

Formerly known as European Wines & Liquor, Golden Chateau Cellar Co. is spreading the goodness of international wines and other liquors throughout the country. The store, which now has 4 branches in different parts of the Philippines, is the one-stop shop for great vodkas, whiskies, and wines among others.

Owned and managed by young entrepreneurs Shaneich Chen and Kendrick Chua, the shop is considered as one of the fastest-growing stores in the country. The couple plans to open more branches in the country to reach out to those who yearn for good and authentic liquor.

Forth & Tay

Named after the two main rivers in Scotland, Forth & Tay started in Manila as a cigar bar that also serves wines and whiskies in 1999. It was the first of its kind at that time, and it has even inspired others to build more wine shops.

Years have passed, and Forth & Tay has grown into a direct retailer of high-quality wines and spirits. It continues to grow as well as the number of loyal customers that believe in the quality of the service that the wine shop provides.

Aside from being a distributor, the wine shop also caters to customers who wish to dine in. The well-thought-of interior decoration, with vinyls on walls and contemporary lighting design, can give you the feeling of dining in Europe.

Now, Forth & Tay has several branches in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, delivering wines and spirits from all around the world with various types of liquors to choose from.

La Vie Parisienne

You may be familiar with the name of the establishment. This is the famous Little Paris, one of the must-visit tourist spots in Cebu. If you are craving for French delicacies, this is the best place to go.

But the restaurant is not only famous for its decor and its food. It is also famous for its wines. La Vie’s wine cellar, which is a favorite spot for photography enthusiasts, is complete from chardonnays to merlots. What makes it different, however, is that the wines come from the winery of the owner, Michel Lhuillier.

Also known as the Pawnshop King, Michel Lhuillier extends his wine business, among others, to other branches. You can get to know more of the high-quality wines of Michel Lhuillier if you drop by his own wine bar, Michel’s, at IT Park. You can also visit La Vie in the Sky and sip some wine as you are overlooking Cebu City.

Find a Cebu wine shop near you!

They say that there is no bad time to drink wine. Your search on where to buy wine is finally answered. Wines in Cebu are not hard to find. Whether you are celebrating something or just giving yourself a good break, these Cebu wine shops have got you covered.
