However, some welcome these horrific moments with open arms. They like to put themselves in these situations and fuel their adrenaline with excitement and curiosity for the unknown.

If you consider yourself one of those people, chances are you’re a fan of a good horror booth, eager to experience its terrifying atmosphere.

You know it’s all fake and scripted, but when done well, it can make for a very exciting activity with friends.

You’ll find yourself screaming, running around in hysterics, and desperately pleading for it to stop, all while witnessing the people around cower in the same dread.

Because of the fond memories you get to create, it’s something many youngsters look forward to every year.

Students wait in line to enter the famous horror booth.

In Lapu-Lapu City, one horror booth is known to give you a horrifying experience, paired with terrifying imagery and some hair-raising jump scares.

Visit Room 13 at Gaisano Grand Mall Mactan and get ready for a good old-fashioned scare!

A CLASSIC HORROR BOOTH FOR HALLOWEEN

You can find the famous Room 13 horror booth at two Gaisano branches; one at Gaisano Grand Mall Mactan and another at Gaisano Grand Mall Mandaue Centro.

The booth is said to have eight rooms, each with a different theme. That way, those who enter won’t know what to expect.

Management has the rooms changed every week to give visitors a different experience, especially those who come back for more.

They want to keep what’s inside the horror booth a mystery to preserve the thrill and excitement. They also have strict guidelines in place where customers are required to leave their phones outside so they can avoid taking pictures and videos.

Room 13 is an offshoot of one the mall’s more successful Halloween booth ideas, “The 13th Floor.” Its overall look is inspired by morgues and funeral homes, using dioramas of half-covered corpses that you can find at the entrance to the booth.

The booth also takes inspiration from horror movies, viral videos, and several superstitious beliefs. They even added a lifesize model of the famous manananggal to give it a more local feel.

Participants enter the horror booth in groups of five. Some prefer to go with close friends so that it’s more fun and memorable.

Employees that are in charge of the booth claim that it takes one participant a minute to complete the course. However, some obstacles may keep you inside a bit longer.

One notable challenge is having to pass through certain areas through small makeshift tunnels inside the horror booth. In fact, you won’t be able to get outside of the horror booth unless you crawl out through the exit.

In the event of an emergency, medical personnel will be nearby to assist you. Participants must also sign a waiver before entering, requiring them to be “physically fit for the activity” and that they “understand the nature of a ‘horror booth’ operation.”

Gaisano employees are situated at the entrance to the horror booth as they guide the participants that are about to enter. They will also keep watch of your belongings while you’re inside.

Students from nearby schools and universities can be seen waiting in line for hours just so they can experience the famous horror booth.

As long as you meet the guidelines, you can join in on the fun and have a good scare.

The entrance fee is Php 25 on weekdays and Php 35 on weekends.

If you’re looking for the perfect activity to spend Halloween with friends, Room 13 is sure to give you a spooktacular time.

Management is excited to see more people visit the horror booth, and they can’t wait to hear them scream in terror.

Room 13 is said to run for a few more days, so drop by if you’re brave enough to enter.
