Tyche Beach: A Budget-Friendly Beach Resort in Catmon

Tyche Beach is another tropical paradise in Cebu worth checking out.

Have you heard of the Greek goddess of good fortune, Tyche?

A name synonymous with luck and providence, anything named Tyche signifies a grace that can handle all the world’s complexities.

The name perfectly exemplifies an accessible and affordable rocky beach with a variety of activities for guests to pass the time and cool off. Cebuanos and tourists can definitely enjoy what this private resort in Catmon has to offer.

Tyche Beach is a popular spot in north Cebu. Whether you want to book an overnight stay or a quick day-use break, it has all the amenities you need for a relaxing time by the sea.

Also, did you know that only nearby residents knew about this hidden gem before it was improved and commercialized in 2021?

Rocks and soil were then installed on the shore, while its relaxing rooms, cottages, and restaurant followed. It’s notable for its well-maintained pebble beach and clean waters, making it a great spot for a leisurely swim.

PEBBLES AND BOULDERS

Not a lot of people like pebble beaches because of how uncomfortable they are. The floor is rough and difficult to walk around, especially on barefoot.

However, it does have its perks.

Some people prefer a pebble beach like Tyche since grains of sand may stick to your clothes and slippers at sand beaches. You can simply come out of the water and dry your clothes easily.

Pebble beaches are also more eco-friendly since they are less likely to erode. Sand beaches are susceptible to erosion because of the effects from the wind and human activity.

Tyche Beach is close to the mountains of Catmon, where there is a river connected directly to the beach. Locals say that the rocks on the seabed are pebbles that flowed directly from the river.

The staff at Tyche Beach have continuously maintained its facilities, making it devoid of trash. This has also kept the water in pristine condition, making it safe and sustainable for fish and other marine life.

Some locals have reported sightings of sea turtles around the area as well. At low tide, you may also see several tiny mollusks moving around the rocks.

It’s therefore easy to see why this resort in Catmon is a popular hangout spot, thanks to its natural landscape and peaceful atmosphere.

WHAT TO DO AT TYCHE BEACH

Tyche Beach offers both family cabanas and air-conditioned rooms for guests looking to stay overnight. Each of these rooms face the beach, giving you a perfect view of the sparkling sea.

The cabanas are shaped like teepee huts. The beds in each room are good for three people. Aside from the queen size beds, there is also a private bathroom and a Smart TV.

Guests at the resort are given free Filipino breakfast meals that come with either coffee or orange juice.

There are no corkage fees for food (except for lechon), so guests can bring their own food to cook if they want. There is a grilling station where you can make some barbecue and other grilled dishes.

There is, however, a corkage fee for alcoholic drinks, but it only starts with the second bottle or case. The first is completely free of charge.

Rooms cost less than Php5,000 for an overnight stay, but Tyche Beach is known for consistently offering promos. Sometimes, you can avail their rooms at half the price!

Each of their cottages can accommodate 10 people at most. Day-use guests can book one from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, while night-use guests can use them from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Guests can also go on a banana boat ride or rent out jet skis.
